How to Make Lobster Pasta

This pasta sauce is based off our popular Garlic Butter Lobster Skillet recipe – it is easy, and so luxurious over pasta!

To make this lobster sauce, you’ll need:

  • 1 lb lobster meat, cooked
  • 3 teaspoons celtic sea salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large shallot, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, fresh
  • 2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon fresh tarragon, chopped

Once you gather your ingredients, you will use this process:

  • Boil pasta. Boil water in large stock pot and prepare pasta to package directions, until al dente – leaving it slightly chewy.
  • Make sauce. In a large skillet, while lobster cooks, melt butter. Add shallot and garlic, cook until soft and fragrant, about 1 minute, stirring frequently. Add in lobster and toss in butter. Stir in salt, lemon juice, lemon zest, and wine. Remove 1/2 cup pasta water before draining, and mix into sauce. Bring to a boil, and reduce heat to simmer.Let sauce thicken while draining pasta.
  • Combine. When sauce has thickened slightly, stir in pasta and tarragon, and toss. Heat additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve. Serve and enjoy!

What lobster to use for lobster pasta. This lobster pasta is so easy because you can truly use any kind of lobster meat – I often use frozen pre-cooked picked lobster meat – which is the most economic choice for lobster meat. While pre-cooked and frozen lobster meat isn’t the most luxurious choice (fresh is always best, obviously) – I live in Colorado in a rural area where finding fresh lobster that isn’t ridiculously expensive is pretty rare – so I have adapted this recipe to truly be knockout delicious no matter your budget or access to fresh fish. We’re adding tons of garlic and butter flavor, which help bring out the sweet and rich flavor of your lobster.

Can I use frozen lobster meat?

This recipe works with frozen, pre-cooked lobster meat. Thaw before using – lobster meat thaws quickly in the refrigerator or in a cool water bath.

Can I add cream to the sauce?

If you’d like a creamy lobster sauce, stir in 1/2 cup heavy cream after adding wine. Turn off heat when adding cream, whisking to incorporate. Return heat and let thicken, continue with recipe.
