What Is Dragon fruit?

Delicious dragon fruit salad with tons of berries and fresh fruit flavor – served in a dragon fruit bowl, perfect for parties! This fruit salad is perfect alongside eggs benedict, mimosas, blueberry waffles, and more – or even with BBQ favorites at a party!

We love serving these for breakfast, for parties, for lunch, and more – it is great as a dessert, delicious as an appetizer, or perfect as a pretty snack.

Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, is a cactus fruit native to the Americas in tropical locations. Dragon fruit is dramatic looking – with a bright red outside with green “scales” (like a dragon) and white fruit with black seeds inside.

Dragon fruit tastes a bit like a cross between a kiwi and a pear – it is sweet and delicious with berries and fruits!

How To Make Dragonfruit Salad

To cut a dragon fruit, use a sharp long knife and cut the fruit in half.

Using a butter knife or spoon, slide along the fruit to remove it from the peel.

Fruit can then be diced, or cut with a fun cookie cutter to make a shape like I did for pictures here.

Dragon fruit is great with all sorts of fruits – blueberries, kiwis, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, pears, apples, passionfruit, papaya, mango, and grapes!
